Burglary Suspect Caught by Police After Cooking Omelette and Drinking Cognac at Victim's Home
On February 13, officers from the Masis Police Department apprehended and neutralized a burglary suspect at the crime scene in Masis city. On February 15, the court issued a two-month detention order against 38-year-old Ararat Mkrtchyan, a resident of Vanadzor. According to Shamshyan.com, he has been transferred to the "Armavir" penitentiary.
Information was received at the Masis police that a suspicious individual was loitering near the buildings in the New District of Masis and was constantly peering into the windows of the buildings. Shortly after, under the leadership of Police Chief A. Voskanyan, criminal investigators and community police decided to act swiftly, and arrived at the specified district, where they neutralized the suspect in apartment 38 of building 9.
The apartment had been completely turned upside down, and the burglar had entered the home by using a modified key to open the door. The homeowners were not present at the time, and the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Ararat Mkrtchyan from Vanadzor, had been hiding for several hours. When he confirmed that the homeowners had left for work, he entered the house and ransacked it, but had not managed to escape with the loot.
According to sources, Ararat Mkrtchyan was presented by the Masis Police Department to the investigative division. In a conversation with the news outlet, the homeowner stated, "I go to work every day. Today, I was at my workplace when a police officer came to me and said that I needed to go to the police station with them. I was surprised; I don’t do anything illegal, why? I immediately got anxious and came to the Masis police station, where I found out that a burglar had entered our home and the police caught him inside. When I got back home, I was left in shock. The entire house had been turned upside down. That despicable burglar even made an omelette while robbing the place, sat down, ate, and drank cognac. I express my gratitude to the police and investigators for their efforts."
