Prosecutor's Office Comments on Scandalous Video Involving Police Officers: Gohar Abarahmyan
Yesterday, a video circulated widely on the internet showing police officers violently beating a citizen, presenting it as a recent event. Let’s put aside the fact that the police officers involved could not have been in summer uniforms during a recent incident. The conspicuous detail in the video itself speaks volumes regarding the chronological inaccuracy of the reported event.
In reality, this incident occurred in the middle of last year; a criminal case was initiated and investigated by the RA Investigative Committee under Article 309, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code. Charges were brought against three inspectors from the RA Police Traffic Police, and the case was sent to court with an indictment conclusion. Incidentally, the RA Prosecutor's Office also released a statement on January 21, 2021, regarding this matter. Furthermore, it should be noted that the inspectors' duties were suspended with the approval of the prosecutor following the indictment.
Postscript: It is simply astonishing how media outlets so quickly swallow up informational bait that exhibits even evident visual and content contradictions. Postscript 2: The ‘technology’ of Telegram channels is turning into a specific headache and ‘information saboteur’.
