Collapse During Demolition of Deghdzut School Claims One Life

Today, on February 11, a tragic incident occurred in the Ararat region. This was reported by Shamshyan.com. Around 4:30 PM, the Artashat Police department received a call reporting a male body found in the former school in Deghdzut village, which is in the process of being demolished.

Police discovered the body of 66-year-old Hakob Khachatryan, a resident of Ejmiadzin, on the second floor of the school, which was built during the Soviet era and is currently being dismantled. According to preliminary information, the collapse occurred due to the falling of a tuff stone wall during the demolition, which led to his death. The victim was unable to escape, and debris fell on him.

Workers on-site immediately tried to provide assistance. Medical personnel who arrived at the scene confirmed his death.
