Attempt to Smuggle Drugs into Sevan Penitentiary Foiled
The staff at Sevan penitentiary have thwarted yet another attempt to smuggle drugs into the facility. The Ministry of Justice of Armenia has released a statement regarding the incident.
“On February 11, around 00:30, during a routine patrol, the employees of the Sevan penitentiary discovered a package wrapped in adhesive tape in a snow-covered area of the internal restricted zone. The package contained six bundles weighing 52.6 grams in total, resembling marijuana. Attached to these bundles was a 50-gram weight to facilitate their smuggling,” the statement read.
Materials are being prepared on the case, and a forensic chemical examination has been appointed.
