Aronian Eliminated from Opera Euro Rapid Online Chess Tournament
Levon Aronian has been eliminated from the Champions Chess Tour's Opera Euro Rapid online chess tournament. In the quarterfinals, he faced a defeat against Maxime Vachier-Lagrave from France.
After the first day of play, Aronian was trailing with a score of 2.5:1.5. On the second day, both players managed to secure one win each and played two games that resulted in a draw. As a result, the score was tied at 2:2.
The French chess player will meet World Champion Magnus Carlsen from Norway in the next round.
The prize fund for the Champions Chess Tour's Opera Euro Rapid online tournament totals $100,000.
