VIDEO: Until when will you prioritize your position over state interests? MP to the Prime Minister

During today’s Q&A session with government officials in the National Assembly, Gevorg Gorgisyan, a member of the "Enlightened Armenia" party, addressed the Prime Minister, stating that he has been evasive in answering fundamental questions.

“You continue to hold the position of Prime Minister, yet you are unable to serve the interests of the Republic of Armenia. Right now, in Shirak Province, all roads into Gyumri are blocked due to families of the missing and captured individuals, yet there has been no response, and you remain incapable of providing clear answers to these people. Even considering your political journey, your ascent to power, you are neglecting the citizens who, by following your example, are blocking the streets to raise their issues. Until when are you going to remain Prime Minister and until when are you willing to subordinate state interests to your position?”

Tigran Avinyan responded to the question, noting that the Constitution and the Electoral Code specify the duration of the Prime Minister and Government's tenure, adding that they have repeatedly suggested that if the parliamentary opposition believes there is a political crisis that needs to be resolved, there is a clear mechanism for that: elections.

“I don’t understand why this idea is so alien to the opposition; power should be formed through elections. If some political groups think that a new power should emerge through arrangements in some rooms, that is not going to happen, Mr. Gorgisyan, let’s clarify that we will not allow such a thing. If a power is to be formed in this country, it must be through elections,” Avinyan stated.
