116-Year-Old French Woman Conquers COVID-19

A 116-year-old French nun has successfully overcome COVID-19 and is preparing to celebrate her 117th birthday this Thursday.

The Gerontology Research Group, which compiles data on individuals aged 110 and older, notes that Sister André, born Lucile Randon, is considered the oldest person in Europe and the second oldest in the world. The title of the oldest person belongs to Japanese Kane Tanaka, who celebrated her 118th birthday this year on January 2, according to euronews.

French media reports that the nun tested positive for the coronavirus in mid-January, but recovered three weeks later.

Sister André is blind and moves with the help of a wheelchair, but she remains very cheerful. She accepted her diagnosis calmly and was not afraid, stating that she does not fear death at all.
