Vardenyats Pass Closed for Trucks, Snow Falling in Jermuk and Aparan
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads in the territory of Armenia.
The Vardenyats Pass is closed for trucks and difficult to pass for all other vehicles. The roads leading from the "Amberd" high mountain meteorological station towards the Amberd Fortress and the K’ari Lake are closed in the Aragatsotn region.
There are patches of black ice on the roads in the Gegharkunik region, particularly on the Yerevan-Sevan highway. In the cities of Hrazdan, Abovyan, and Charentsavan in the Kotayk region, there is fog in the area known as Saravan–Zanger.
Snow is falling in Jermuk of the Vayots Dzor region, as well as in the cities of Aparan and the village of Aragats in the Aragatsotn region.
According to information received from the Emergency Situations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in North Ossetia, the Stepanstminda-Lars road is open for all vehicles, although there are approximately 370 trucks stranded on the Russian side.
Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
