Russian Peacekeepers Halt Azerbaijani Advance in Kapan-Jakaten Area Today

Today, reports emerged that the Azerbaijani military had blocked the Kapan road with military vehicles. Gevorg Parsyan, the mayor of the Kapan consolidated community, informed ArmDaily.am that the incident occurred on the Kapan-Jakaten stretch of road.

“It all started with gunfire directed at the 'Welcome to Azerbaijan' sign. The Azerbaijanis took this opportunity to provoke and made positional changes. The Russian peacekeepers also had a confrontation with Azerbaijani soldiers and established themselves in the new positions to prevent further Azerbaijani advances,” Gevorg Parsyan noted.

The mayor of Kapan stated that it was not the Azerbaijanis but rather the Russian peacekeepers who had closed the road today using an armored vehicle to prevent the Azerbaijani advance. Currently, the road is functioning seamlessly, and the Russian peacekeepers are in control of the situation.
