USS Donald Cook Enters Georgian Territorial Waters

The USS Donald Cook (DDG-75) of the United States Navy has entered Georgian territorial waters. The ship was welcomed at the Batumi port by Ramaz Papidze, Captain First Class and Director of the Coastal Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, along with representatives from the department.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the visit aims to strengthen maritime cooperation between the US and Georgia. The Ministry notes that the ship's visit to Georgia is being conducted in accordance with guidelines from the World Health Organization and the National Center for Disease Control. To prevent the possible spread of COVID-19, meetings will be held remotely in a video conference format.

The Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, USS Donald Cook, is participating in various missions within the operations area of the US Sixth Fleet and contributes to maintaining maritime security in the Black Sea region while supporting NATO operations and missions.

The USS Donald Cook is scheduled to leave Georgian territorial waters tomorrow, February 6, following the completion of a planned exercise with the Georgian Coast Guard.
