Ukrainian Opposition Launches Signature Campaign for Zelensky's Resignation

The Ukrainian party "Opposition Platform – For Life" (ОПЗЖ) has initiated a signature campaign to impeach President Volodymyr Zelensky. The demand for Zelensky's resignation is fueled by sanctions imposed on Ukrainian television channels.

The president is accused of attempting to seize power. On Tuesday, Zelensky approved a decision by the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to impose sanctions for five years against the television channels "112 Ukraine," "NewsOne," and "ZIK," as well as against Taras Kozak, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the "Opposition Platform – For Life" faction, who owns them.

According to a statement from the "Opposition Platform – For Life" party, "The president of Ukraine’s decree is an act of usurpation of power, a blatant censorship mechanism aimed at establishing dictatorship and despotism in the country, violating all international principles and norms of democracy."

Earlier, Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the political council of the Opposition Platform, stated that the party has evidence of gross violations of the Constitution and laws of Ukraine by the president.

The United States has supported Kyiv's decision to impose sanctions on the Ukrainian channels "112.Украина," "NewsOne," and "ZIK."
