Lawyer Arayik Papikyan has published a statement from his client, Vahan Badasyan, on his Facebook page, which we present below.

"I am being tortured through detention. Despite not being a conscript, driven by an unwavering commitment to defend my homeland, I voluntarily participated in the war from the very first day and played a significant role. I am more than convinced that my actions are heroic.

The evidence of this is also my willingness to risk my life and sustaining a serious injury. I am convinced that for such a heroic act, the state should reward me. In the event of an alleged violation of the law, the above should be taken into account.

As for how the current authorities are treating me: after undergoing serious surgery, when I still need post-surgical recovery, by depriving me of my freedom, they subject me to inhumane physical and psychological torture.

Dear compatriots, I urge you to unite and raise your voice against the physical and psychological torture being inflicted upon me."
