I Have Reached Out to the Women Leaders of Europe to Urge Azerbaijan to Return Maral and All Other Prisoners of War: Naira Zohrabyan

Armenian National Assembly member from the Prosperous Armenia parliamentary group, Naira Zohrabyan, has announced on her Facebook page, "I have reached out to the women leaders of Europe. Lebanese Armenian Maral Najaryan came to Armenia after the port explosion in Beirut. Maral settled in Berdzor, and on the very next day after the end of the war, on November 11, she went to Berdzor to transport her personal belongings to Yerevan and was captured on the Goris-Stepanakert road.

Azerbaijan has officially confirmed the fact of Maral's captivity, and according to Davit Shahnazaryan's report, Maral is in a prison in Gubistan, located about 70 km away from Baku. Maral had come to Artsakh to live and was captured the day after the capitulation.

I have appealed to the women leaders of Europe, to all organizations engaged in human rights protection and women's issues, to urge Azerbaijan to return Maral and all other prisoners of war. I have addressed all women of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to direct their call to Azerbaijan and to the wife of Aliyev, who holds the title of UNESCO goodwill ambassador, to immediately return Maral Najaryan, who is a civilian, to Armenia.

I have appealed to UNESCO, which grants the title of goodwill ambassador to the wife of the president of a country guilty of war crimes, to demand from their Azerbaijani goodwill ambassador not to disregard international humanitarian law and to stop holding Armenian prisoners of war and Maral Najaryan as political leverage, and to return all prisoners of war to Armenia immediately in accordance with the Third Geneva Convention."
