Will the National Assembly Dissolve Itself? The Atmosphere in ‘My Step’

According to the newspaper, there is no consensus within the parliamentary group 'My Step' regarding the proposal put forward by MP Vahagn Hovakimyan to allow the parliament to dissolve itself after enacting constitutional changes.

Our sources indicate that, in the opinion of 'My Step' members, Vahagn Hovakimyan's proposed bill is unfeasible and they have expressed concerns that they will find themselves in an unpleasant situation once again. For this reason, the ruling team is not even inclined to discuss it in the near future.

Our sources also report that Vahagn Hovakimyan has been suggesting ideas and proposals that often seem ridiculous to the MPs.

The newspaper attempted to clarify with Vahagn Hovakimyan whether it is true that his proposed bill has not received approval within the group. He stated, “That bill has not been discussed in that manner yet; it is in the discussion phase, and I do not rule out that it may not receive approval, but at this moment we do not have such a decision. There is neither a negative nor a positive decision; my expectation is that it will be approved, but I do not exclude the possibility that it may not be approved,” he announced in a Garushakyan style.

When asked when they plan to discuss his proposals within the group, he replied, “I don’t know, probably in the near future. I did not intend to accelerate its discussion that quickly; the question just came into the media sphere and started being discussed.”

This information is reported by the newspaper ‘Zhoghovurd’.
