Vahan Badalyan Detained: Court Announces Decision
Former member of the Artsakh National Assembly and leader of the "United Armenia" party, Vahan Badalyan, has been detained. The decision was announced moments ago by the Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction, thereby granting the request of the National Security Service (NSS) investigator. This information was confirmed in response to a question by Badalyan's lawyer, Arayik Papikyan.
Badalyan is accused under Article 301 of the RA Criminal Code (public calls aimed at seizing power, violating territorial integrity, or violently overthrowing the constitutional order). He does not admit guilt regarding the charges brought against him.
Recall that yesterday, at Yerablur, Vahan Badalyan made threats of physical extermination against the Prime Minister, labeling Nikol Pashinyan as an “enemy.” He stated, “We must eliminate the enemy. Yes, by means of weapons as well. Yes, I am making threats and I do so consciously, let the NSS arrest me,” he told reporters.
