Large-scale Import of Various Goods from Turkey to Armenia: Babken Pipoyan
There are still Turkish products in the local market. Therefore, it is too early to assess the impact of the ban on the import of Turkish goods. In an interview with Aysor.am, Babken Pipoyan, president of the 'Informed and Protected Consumer' NGO, stated that until December 31, there has been a large-scale import of various goods from Turkey to Armenia. 'The products that had an impact on the market in terms of weight are still available.'
Pipoyan noted that it was important to understand the characteristics and issues of different sectors that could arise. 'For example, people involved in the textile business in Armenia could operate with just a few thousand dollars, around 4000-5000 dollars. Now, if we consider that one must go to China to find alternatives, a person with 4000 or 5000 dollars cannot go to that country and do business with that amount,' Pipoyan explained. He emphasized that for this reason, the state should find appropriate mechanisms.
