It seems that Araik Harutyunyan may have also been misled. What was supposed to be presented to him was also falsely reported. This was stated today during a press conference by the Mayor of Shushi, Artavazik Sargsyan.

“On the night of November 4 to 5, he came to Shushi. He came to get acquainted with what was happening in the city. At that time, Seyran Ohanyan presented that the situation was unbearable, and a critical moment had arisen for Shushi. He listened and asked a colonel, who stated that everything was great. I have not seen anything good; I knew there were Azerbaijani forces in Karitank, and there were Azerbaijanis on the way. If that was the case, he should have been deployed to arrange the posts; what’s good about it? I saw that he met with the MOB that had come from Armenia. These guys refused to go to the positions because they were without a commander. People were desperate, wanting to be allowed to leave. He went, met with them, and afterward, the guys were invigorated and went to the positions. Personally, I don't think that Harutyunyan was aware; he was motivating them. But the fact that it was reported that the situation was good is a crime.

When I specifically went to the mountain range, I saw Azerbaijani troops. A few days earlier, we were holding the position with 12 people in that same place, and everything was very good. We were looking through binoculars; everything was fine. Then we were pulled out; I said that the enemy forces and mortars were there. But when I went there, they weren’t there. They should have reported before leaving,” Sargsyan said.

Sargsyan noted that they went to reinforce the position, but there was no position; instead, there were Azerbaijanis, with whom they clashed. “A few days earlier, when the Turks arrived, the mortars had worked, and they were pushed back,” he added.
