Armenians in the USA Ready to Collaborate with Biden; Aram I Congratulates the Newly Elected President

The Catholicos of Cilicia, Aram I, has congratulated the newly elected President of the United States, Joe Biden, on the occasion of his taking office.

“Yesterday, on Saturday morning, January 23, 2021, His Holiness Aram I, the Supreme Patriarch, congratulated Joe Biden on his election as President of the United States. In his letter addressed to the newly elected president, His Holiness stated that our people, and particularly Armenians established in the United States, are ready to cooperate with him and his administration in the defense of human rights and values, strengthening the ties between the United States and Armenia, as well as establishing peace in the world,” the Facebook post by Aram I reads.

His Holiness recalled that President Biden has established friendly ties with the Armenian people since his years in the Senate and has shown special respect for the victims of the Armenian Genocide. The Patriarch expressed confidence that he would continue to robustly defend democracy, the sovereignty of nations, and efforts to prevent genocide, while also expressing hope for the official recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the United States.

Subsequently, Aram I conveyed his wishes for success to the president.
