Armenia and Russia to Remove Covid-Related Mutual Exit and Entry Barriers
The governments of Armenia and Russia will eliminate mutual exit and entry barriers that were put in place due to the coronavirus pandemic. Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan announced this during a Q&A session in the National Assembly while responding to a question from Sarik Minasian, a member of the ‘Bright Armenia’ faction.
“We tried to solve this issue within the framework of the EEU, but were unsuccessful. However, we initiated a solution with the Russian side, which will allow us to set a principle of free crossing for all our compatriots who have testing results or have been ill and have already recovered. We have adopted the government’s decision, and we are now waiting for a similar decision from Russia. After that, this mechanism will start to operate,” said Grigoryan.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that after the relevant decision from the Russian government is made, a system will be created whereby a person will receive the green light to cross the border after taking the test, both in Armenia and the Russian Federation. “I hope that this system will function and our compatriots will have the opportunity to cross the border without hindrance,” Grigoryan noted.
