Turkey Launches First Locally Manufactured Warship

Turkey has launched its first domestically produced warship, named “Istanbul” (F-515). The ceremony was attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

According to Erdoğan, in 2020, the country undertook 20 defense industry projects, and today that number has reached 700. “We have become a country that, alongside its own needs for land and naval technology, also meets the needs of friendly and allied countries. We are among the 10 countries capable of designing, building, and servicing our warships. We are among the top three to four countries in the production of unmanned aerial vehicles, including combat drones; our drones are envied around the world,” Erdoğan stated.
