Streamlining Name Change Procedures in Armenia
The National Assembly of Armenia has discussed in the second reading a package of legislative proposals presented by the government aimed at simplifying the procedures for accessing Civil Status Registration services.
According to Armenpress, Deputy Minister of Justice Vahe Danielyan introduced the package related to the registration of civil status acts during the National Assembly session.
“These projects establish a completely new system for the registration bodies of civil status acts. Applications will be accepted by service centers, which can either be unified offices or through privately authorized operators of regional bodies of the Civil Status Registration Agency. Registrations will be carried out by the Ministry of Justice, eliminating direct contact between applicants and decision-makers,” stated Danielyan.
The opportunity to submit electronic applications is being created. Civil Status Registration services will also be available through an online platform. The Deputy Minister assured that bureaucratic procedures are being minimized in almost all processes. In particular, the requirement for notarized translations of documents issued by foreign states has been removed. Now, the signature of a translator with qualification certification is sufficient for an approved Armenian translation.
A shorter period of up to 3 days has been established for correcting spelling mistakes.
