Russia Deploys 300 Troops to Syria's Al-Hasakah Region
Russia has sent an additional unit of military personnel to Syria's Al-Hasakah region. This was reported on Monday, January 18, by Major Dmitry Suntsov of the Russia-Syria Joint Monitoring Center.
In total, approximately 300 soldiers will be stationed there. According to Suntsov, the main task of the Russian unit will be to "facilitate the de-escalation of conflict in the region." Additionally, they will monitor the maintenance of the ceasefire regime and assist local residents.
The Syrian Al-Hasakah region borders Turkey. Russian servicemen are stationed there as part of agreements between Moscow and Ankara aimed at ensuring stability in the region.
