NASA Warns of Serious Drought Risk in Turkey
The American National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has released a map illustrating Turkey's underground water reserves as of January 11, 2021. According to the information on the agency's official website, the underground water resources in Turkey are below normal levels, as reported by Ermenihaber.
In the last months of 2020, precipitation levels in Turkey were significantly lower than average. This decline in rainfall has led to a decrease in reservoir supplies. As a result, according to NASA's assessment, there is a serious risk of drought in Turkey.
NASA's analyses are based on data obtained from the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment Follow On (GRACE-FO) satellites.
