Iran and Turkey have signed three new agreements related to railway transportation. According to the Tasnim news agency, this was announced by Saeed Rasooli, the director of the Iranian Railways.
He stated that the new agreements aim to maximize the potential for passenger and cargo transport between the two neighboring countries via railway.
Rasooli added that Tehran and Ankara have agreed to strengthen the east-west corridor, which connects China to Turkey through the territories of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran.
The Iranian official also emphasized that the restoration of transnational railway communication connecting Istanbul, Tehran, and Islamabad would create opportunities to join the new Silk Road.
