Avinyan's Office Clarifies Non-Disclosure of Prisoner Data
The numerical data regarding prisoners in Armenia and Azerbaijan is classified and is not subject to public disclosure, considering the highly sensitive nature of the matter, stated the office of Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan to Armenpress.
In response to media inquiries, Avinyan's office also revealed that during this period, the lists of Armenian prisoners have been constantly updated and periodically submitted to partners, taking into account both the ongoing search operations and their results, as well as new and additional information that emerges over time.
“Armenia approaches any issue regarding prisoners of war with complete responsibility and refrains from formulations that may harm the swift and safe repatriation process of our compatriots. Regarding the lists presented by the Armenian side concerning prisoners, considering the classified nature of the numerical data, it is necessary to inform that they have been submitted periodically in several phases according to updates. Moreover, complete lists were provided to the Russian side and the International Committee of the Red Cross back in December,” the clarification reads.
