Road Closures Across Armenia: Black Ice Reported on the Saravan-Zanger Section

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia reports that there are closed roads across the country.

In the Aragatsotn region, the roads leading from the "Amberd" high-altitude meteorological station to the Amberd Fortress and to the Kary Lake are closed. The Vardenyats Pass is difficult for heavy vehicles to traverse.

In Shirak province, the inter-community roads of Akhuryan and Amasia are also experiencing difficult passage.

Additionally, there is black ice in sections of the Saravan-Zanger road and in the town of Aparan in Aragatsotn province.

Snow is falling in various areas including Aparan and Talin in Aragatsotn, Sevan in Gegharkunik, Vanadzor, Spitak, and Stepanavan in Lori, as well as in the regions of Noyemberyan in Tavush and Ashotk in Shirak and Amasia.

Regarding the Lars situation, information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of North Ossetia in Russia states that the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is closed to all types of vehicles due to avalanche danger, with 340 heavy trucks accumulated on the Russian side.

According to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, the decision to prohibit entry for foreigners into Georgia remains in effect. The ban does not apply to freight transport.

Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
