Bodies of 30 servicemen returned by Azerbaijan were unrecognizable; forensic examination appointed, Artsakh Emergency Situations Ministry
Yesterday, on January 23, the rescue teams of the state emergency service conducted search operations in the Varanda (Fizuli), southern part of Kashatagh, and Mataghis regions. This information was reported by the Artsakh Emergency Situations Ministry.
As a result of the operations, another 30 servicemen's bodies were returned, which the Azerbaijani side transferred to the Armenian side without indicating their whereabouts. The bodies are unrecognizable. A forensic examination has been appointed to determine their identities.
Compared to previous days of 2021, the highest number of bodies have been discovered yesterday. Family members of deceased or missing servicemen, as well as volunteers and guides familiar with the area, are also participating in the search operations.
It is noteworthy that from November 13, 2020, to January 23, 2021, a total of 1,281 bodies have been discovered. Rescue and search operations continue today in the Jarakhan (Jabrayil) and Varanda (Fizuli) regions.
