Mr. Prosecutor, I read your 'efforts' to absolve me from international wanted status with a smirk: Ohanyan

The former Minister of Defense of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan, has sent an open letter to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, Arthur Davtyan:

“Mr. Prosecutor, as a political-military figure who stands at the foundation of Artsakh and Armenia's statehood and military development, and who is deeply concerned about the process of the release and return of Armenian captives, I sincerely do not believe you, nor any member of this government, can make any contribution in the international arena regarding our state and its reputation.

A representative of a defeated power cannot defend the interests of Armenian prisoners held as terrorists in Azerbaijani prisons on the international stage, let alone ensure their return.

How can a representative of this government speak about prisoners of war when they have not made any effort in international courts to strongly condemn Azerbaijan for triggering the 44-day war in 2020, while acknowledging the fact that it was Azerbaijan that initiated the first Artsakh war in 1992-1994 and the April Four-Day War in 2016, both of which were accompanied by severe military crimes?

Tell me, how should I consider you as an Armenian when you sign documents with the Azerbaijani prosecutor’s office without resolving the issue of prisoners?

I read with a smirk your 'efforts' to absolve me from international wanted status. Do you really think that discussing this matter with the prosecutor of a hostile state is appropriate?

I remind my 'rights-protecting' prosecutor that in December 2018, when no criminal case had been initiated against me yet, I was prohibited from crossing the Armenia-Georgia border, grossly violating my right to free movement, and after our complaints to the prosecutor’s office, that crime was covered up.

During your meeting with your Azerbaijani colleague, you could have proudly reported that the disgraceful trial of March 1 was personally created and carried out with your direct participation, and on the day of the liberation of Shushi, three political-military figures who are at the foundation of Artsakh and Armenia’s statehood were put before the 'most just' court.

And all this time, you said not a word, expressed no position regarding the lawless actions of the Azerbaijani criminal military government and legal system, let alone regarding the injustices done to me.

The wheel of history will continue to turn. I have no doubt that the Armenian people will straighten their wounded back, while this government, which is creating grounds for the downfall of our statehood with the leadership of Azerbaijan, will stand before not only international justice but at least the judgment of the Armenian people and God.

PS: Seyran Ohanyan and his family members do not own any buildings or premises in the Vahagni district.”
