In September, the National Assembly Received Bonus Payments of $400,000
In response to an inquiry from Yerkir.am, the staff of the National Assembly informed in writing that the deputies and staff received bonuses in September 2020 amounting to 75 percent of their monthly official salary.
During a time when the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic continued, with an approximate 6 percent economic decline and a deepening social crisis, as well as in the early days of warfare, the 131 deputies of the National Assembly received the following bonuses in September of the previous year:
- Approximately 65 million AMD in bonuses,
- 87 million AMD in salaries,
resulting in a total compensation of 152 million AMD. The bonus for each deputy in September amounted to 1,160,000 AMD, which is approximately 37 times higher than the average monthly benefit provided to low-income families.
The bonuses for 603 National Assembly staff members in September totaled around 127 million AMD, salaries amounted to 169 million AMD, making the total compensation 296 million AMD.
Thus, in September 2020, the deputies and staff of the National Assembly received bonus payments totaling 192 million AMD (around $400,000). Moreover, the state budget for 2020 allocated around 4 billion AMD for the salaries and bonuses of the National Assembly deputies and staff, with approximately 900 million AMD designated specifically for bonuses.
