Armenia Reserves the Right to Take All Necessary Actions to Reject Azerbaijan's Intent to Resolve the Issue by Military Means: Ministry of Foreign Affairs
On October 17, the foreign ministries of Armenia and Azerbaijan simultaneously issued a statement regarding the announcement of a humanitarian ceasefire, achieved through the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and with the personal mediation of the President of France.
However, as was the case after the previous agreement reached in Moscow, Azerbaijan again demonstrated an absolute lack of willingness to adhere to commitments it had undertaken. This was accompanied by statements from representatives of Azerbaijan's military-political leadership, indicating that Azerbaijan would not cease military operations until a "victorious conclusion" to the war.
Notably, similar statements have also been made in Turkey at this time. Just minutes after the announcement of the humanitarian ceasefire, Azerbaijani armed forces resumed hostilities and launched a large-scale offensive on the southern front on the morning of October 18.
In fact, this marks the second agreement regarding the cessation of fire that Azerbaijan shows no willingness or ability to implement, all while misleading the international community and, primarily, the co-chair countries of the OSCE Minsk Group.
We are committed to the commitments undertaken in the joint statement of October 10 in Moscow and the statement of October 17, prioritizing the establishment of a sustainable ceasefire maintained through verification mechanisms. In this regard, we again reaffirm these statements, which express the applications of the aims declared by the leaders of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries on October 1, and the statements of the Foreign Ministers of the co-chairing countries on October 5.
We adhere to resolution exclusively through peaceful means, driven by the negotiation process. While maintaining our fidelity to the agreements reached, the Republic of Armenia reserves the right to take all necessary actions to decisively reject Azerbaijan's intent to resolve the issue through military means.
