Artsakh Faces Humanitarian Disaster: UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors Issue Call
The First Lady of the Republic of Armenia, Nune Sargsyan, who has been the Emergency Advocate for Children’s Rights at UNICEF since 2019, professional football player and captain of the Armenian national football team Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and other UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors have issued a special appeal to UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore, calling for urgent action to speak out in these days of large-scale military aggression by Azerbaijan.
Pointing out that Artsakh is currently on the brink of a humanitarian disaster, they urged the leadership of UNICEF, relevant UN bodies, and fellow Goodwill Ambassadors to raise their voices, extend a helping hand, and act immediately to prevent further bloodshed.
“Let us not allow our silence to drown out the cries of innocent children and their caregivers. Let us not fail as advocates for compassion, justice, and peace. It is at this critical moment that courageous steps are necessary to save lives. We want to remain proud members of a UNICEF family that recognizes the obvious, condemns the immoral, and is not indifferent to the plight of the defenseless,” the appeal directed to UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore reads.
