‘Zhoghovurd’. Kocharian's Chief of Staff and Hayk Marutyan Met in the Airport VIP Lounge
‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper reports: Last month, a correspondent from ‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper witnessed quite an interesting situation at Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport. Before the Yerevan-Moscow flight, Viktor Soghomonyan, the head of the office of the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharian, was seated in the VIP lounge where he had a conversation with former Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan.
After their conversation concluded, Soghomonyan met with Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan at another table, who was heading to Moscow on his way to the Czech Republic.
Viktor Soghomonyan, considered to be the right hand of the radically oppositional Robert Kocharian against Nikol Pashinyan's government, and Hayk Marutyan, who is loyal to Nikol Pashinyan, engaged in a long and warm conversation. We could not ascertain the subject of their discussion, as Soghomonyan did not respond to our phone calls, and Marutyan's spokesperson, Hakob Karapetyan, declined to provide any comments to ‘Zhoghovurd’ on the matter.
It is noteworthy that Viktor Soghomonyan ended his day with a conversation with His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians. What will happen next is hard to say. It was reported yesterday that the Yerevan Mayor did not lead the council meeting due to health issues. We were also unable to determine what happened to Marutyan, as the mayor's spokesperson again declined to provide any information.
