Ruben Hayrapetyan's Citizenship Information Disappears from National Archive

Former president of the Football Federation of Armenia, Ruben Hayrapetyan, was elected as an MP twice; however, in 2012, he did not have the right to run due to holding dual citizenship.

Data regarding his citizenship status as a candidate in the 2012 elections has disappeared from the National Archive of Armenia. This information was disclosed by the Armenian Police in response to a query from Sputnik Armenia. The editorial team had sent an inquiry to the police in August, asking for clarification on how Hayrapetyan was elected as an MP in 2007 and 2012 while being a citizen of both Armenia and Russia (According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, he obtained Russian citizenship on June 20, 2003).

A service check was conducted in the police department based on the inquiry. It was revealed that the documentation for providing Ruben Hayrapetyan with the necessary information for participating in the National Assembly elections in 2007 and 2012 was based on his passport and visas.
