Yellow Card: Controversial Statement by Samvel Babayan Removed After Call from Armenia

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that the relationships of the newly forming authorities in Artsakh and the competition among officials have entered a dangerous phase for the country. The authorities in Armenia are trying to take effective steps to prevent this situation from harming the state.

If things do not improve "positively," then significant staffing changes are expected in Artsakh in the near future. Samvel Babayan is gradually increasing his influence and stepping outside the presidential governance sphere, while Masis Mayilyan plays his part, and the generals are living completely independent lives.

Recently, the Armenian authorities have shown a yellow card to Babayan, who made a scandalous statement about signing a mutual assistance agreement between Artsakh and Armenia. During a meeting with the youth of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, he asked, “With whom are we signing a military alliance? Who is with whom? The entire army belongs to Armenia. Is Armenia signing a contract with itself?” This statement was covered by Artsakh media.

However, hours later, a call was made from Armenia, and the statement was removed, as efforts are underway at the official level to present to the international community that the Armenian army is merely providing assistance.
