Tense Situation in Minsk as Protesters Approach Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko's Residence

In Minsk, thousands of protesters have approached the Independence Palace, the official residence of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. This information was reported by TASS.

At the same time, special forces have blocked the Winners' Avenue leading to the residence with shields. Water cannons and 3-meter high metal barriers are also located along the route. Protesters are chanting, 'Come out' and 'How much is your conscience worth?'

RIA Novosti reports that the building of the Supreme Court of Belarus is located near the residence, and a barbed wire vehicle has been parked nearby.

Local media note that representatives of the security forces have already detained dozens of citizens. According to TASS agency, unauthorized protests are taking place across all regions of Belarus today, with eyewitnesses estimating the number of participants to exceed 100,000.

It is worth recalling that opposition supporters have been staging daily protests since the presidential elections on August 9, contesting the results that declared the current president as the winner.
