Maria Zakharova Apologizes to Serbian President Over Misinterpreted Photo of 'Sharon Stone's Famous Pose'

“I apologize, but my post has been misinterpreted.” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has issued an apology regarding her Facebook post that sparked criticism from the Serbian president over the White House chairs.

Previously, Maria Zakharova had published photos, one of which depicted Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić during his visit to Washington. Zakharova advised Vučić to sit in a manner reminiscent of the famous pose of Sharon Stone in front of Donald Trump.

“If you are called to the White House, and the chairs are arranged in a way that makes it seem like you are being interrogated, sit as shown in the second photo,” Zakharova wrote alongside the picture.

Marko Djuric, the director of the Kosovo and Metohija office under the Serbian government, responded, stating, “I will not allow you to attack proud Serbia. You should be ashamed,” said the Serbian official.
