Armenia's Nuclear Power Plant Bombing Will Be a Chernobyl for the Region: Armen Sarkissian

President Armen Sarkissian participated today in the Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit (GMIS2020), co-hosted by the United Arab Emirates and UNIDO. This information was reported by the President’s Office.

“While Armenia is fighting against the coronavirus, our neighbor Azerbaijan, which is also battling the virus, has begun military operations along the border with Armenia. Where is the sanity in that? Our other neighbor, Turkey, has been making harsh rhetoric that concerns me as an Armenian and takes us back 105 years when the Armenian Genocide was committed in the Ottoman Empire. I am also concerned that Azerbaijani officials are threatening to attack Armenia's nuclear power plant. Bombing it will not only harm Armenia but also all our neighbors, reaching as far as the Gulf countries, and it will become a new Chernobyl for the region. I hope that during this difficult transition from the old world to the new, we will not lose our sense of reason, will act humanely, focusing on the future, and will appreciate what we have created in the past,” the statement said.
