Shocking Footage of Police Suffocating African American Triggers Protests in New York

Large-scale protests have once again erupted in New York following the release of a video showing the brutal killing of yet another African American by police officers. The incident took place in March, but the family of the deceased has only recently made the footage public, according to the Daily Mail.

The killing of Daniel Prude occurred just weeks before the death of African American George Floyd, but it initially did not receive a significant public response. The released video shows officers, who had stripped Prude and seated him in the street during cold weather while in handcuffs, placing a fabric bag over his head and then suffocating him by pressing his face into the ground.

After the incident, doctors confirmed that he had suffered brain death. The man passed away seven days later on March 30.
