Newly Appointed Deputy Police Chief Acquires 48 Million Dram House in Downtown Yerevan in 2019
The newly appointed Deputy Police Chief of Armenia, Ara Fidanian, who previously served as the head of the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Armenia, submitted his annual declaration for 2019 to the Commission for Prevention of Corruption on May 19, 2020.
According to the declaration, Fidanian owned one house in Dilijan at the beginning of the year. During the year, he and his wife, Gayane Sargsyan, acquired a house in the Central administrative district of Yerevan for 48 million drams. By the end of the year, he possessed two properties.
At the beginning of 2019, the Deputy Police Chief had a 'VAZ' brand vehicle, which he retained until the end of the year. The declaration indicates that Fidanian had neither cash nor cashless assets.
In 2019, he received income from two sources: a salary of 5,340,192 drams from the Police of Armenia, and 289,550 drams from the police educational institution.
His wife, Gayane Sargsyan, held a half-share in an unregistered new building in the Central district of Yerevan at the beginning of 2019. As mentioned earlier, during the year she bought a house in the Central administrative district with her husband. By the year's end, Sargsyan thus had two properties with a half-share title.
According to the declaration, Sargsyan also had no cash or cashless funds. In 2019, she earned an income of 2,190,000 drams from Ameriabank as a salary.
Fidanian's father, Khoren Fidanian, owned a 'NISSAN' vehicle at the beginning of 2019, which he also retained at year-end. He received 480,000 drams as pension income in 2019.
Fidanian's mother, Taguhi Harutyunyan, had one house in the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan at the beginning of 2019, which she retained at the end of the year. At the start of the year, she had a bank deposit of $25,000 and 12 million drams, which was not available by year-end.
