52-Year-Old Iranian Citizen Intentionally Destroys Property of Others: 40 Trees, Embezzlement, and Fraud
The investigation conducted by the investigative department of the Armavir Regional Investigative Committee of Armenia has uncovered a series of circumstances regarding a 52-year-old citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) who deliberately destroyed someone else's property, committed large-scale fraud, and embezzlement. This information was provided by the information and public relations department of the Armenian Investigative Committee.
According to the data obtained during the investigation, the 52-year-old citizen of the IRI, residing in the city of Ejmiatsin, met a compatriot working as a laborer in the area known as “Pettankaran” in Ejmiatsin in August 2018. Having been motivated by mutual tension and hostility, the 52-year-old citizen of the IRI deliberately set fire to the dried grass present in the aforementioned area with a lighter, which resulted in the burning of 40 trees in the garden belonging to a 67-year-old local resident, causing significant property damage worth 2,710,000 AMD.
Additionally, the 52-year-old citizen of the IRI, with the intent of committing fraud by deception, misled a 40-year-old compatriot by providing false information about leasing rights for a plot he owned in Ejmiatsin for $55,000. In February 2019, he received the specified amount in cash from the victim, which he embezzled and spent for his own needs.
Subsequently, in mutual agreement with another 54-year-old citizen of the IRI, he promised to keep 304 sheep belonging to this individual in the area referred to as “pig-farming” in Ejmiatsin, with the terms of equal profit sharing. Taking advantage of the absence of the 54-year-old man from Armenia, the 52-year-old citizen of the IRI sold the entrusted sheep and received $22,000 in return, partially returning a portion at the victim's request, while promising to return the remaining amount later.
Moreover, on March 3, 2019, with the intent of committing fraud and seizing someone else's property, he gained the trust of a 49-year-old citizen of the IRI by offering him to invest in the land he was cultivating in Ejmiatsin. Having received $2,000 in cash, he fraudulently seized it, causing significant property damage to the 49-year-old man.
Based on a sufficient combination of evidence obtained, the 52-year-old citizen of the IRI has been charged under Article 185 (Deliberate destruction or damage of property) part 2 clauses 1 and 2, Article 178 (Fraud) part 3 clause 1, Article 179 (Embezzlement or misappropriation) part 3 clause 1, and Article 178 part 2 clause 2 of the RA Criminal Code. A signature not to leave has been selected as a preventive measure for him. The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been forwarded to the court with an accusatory conclusion.
