Arsen Torosyan Refuses to Be Scapegoat; Dispute with Pashinyan Linked to Arthur Ghazinyan
According to the newspaper "Fact", Arthur Ghazinyan, the chairman of the "One Armenia" party, has submitted a request to the Prosecutor General of Armenia and the Special Investigation Service demanding a criminal case be opened for failure to combat the coronavirus, hiding and distorting information that poses risks to human life and health, as well as abuse of official position.
Both the Special Investigation Service and the Prosecutor's Office rejected the initiation of a criminal case. However, according to our sources, on August 31, Ghazinyan's request is set to be accepted for consideration by the first-instance court. The court is specifically authorized to provide legal qualification.
According to information from "Fact", the main reason for the dispute with Arsen Torosyan during a meeting of the State Commission was indeed Ghazinyan's report about the crime.
Realizing that the initiation of a criminal case by the court is inevitable based on the facts included in the report, Nikol Pashinyan has indicated to Torosyan that all responsibility will rest on him. However, Torosyan has stated that he is not willing to become a scapegoat, as decisions were not made unilaterally, and there are appropriate records, including personal documentation, to confirm this.
As the debate intensified around this topic, information has already been circulated in the media regarding the situation.
