State of Emergency No Longer To Be Extended
During today’s governmental meeting, Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan presented a package of draft laws developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, proposing not to extend the state of emergency.
“As we have discussed multiple times, there may be a situation where the reduction in the pace of infection allows achieving the lawful goal of combating the pandemic and protecting the lives and health of citizens without the legal regime of a state of emergency. With this consideration, we have developed this package of draft laws. If the laws are adopted within the appropriate timeframe, it will be possible not to extend the state of emergency in Armenia, which has been extended until September 11, and the measures and restrictions proposed in the drafts will come into effect after its conclusion,” the minister said.
The decision draft was unanimously approved by the government.
