Two Young Women Attempted Murder of a Young Man in Gyumri

The Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee has determined through investigative and procedural actions concerning a criminal case that a 19-year-old resident of Gyumri, upon learning that her 23-year-old friend had ended her relationship, attempted to unlawfully take the life of the friend's 23-year-old boyfriend with the direct organization and leadership of her friend, seeking revenge.

On August 20, 2020, around 8:00 PM, to clarify the situation, the girls met the 23-year-old man in the central park of the city through a phone call. During this meeting, the 19-year-old approached him from behind and cut or injured his neck with a previously taken razor, after which they left together.

The investigation also revealed that on March 27, 2020, in one of the apartments located in the Mush district of Gyumri, the 23-year-old man attempted to engage in sexual relations with the 19-year-old resident of Gyumri against her will, but she began to resist, and he could not fulfill his criminal intentions.

Moreover, on August 15, 2020, between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM, in one of the buildings on Minas Avetisyan Street in Gyumri, the aforementioned young man, against the will of the 19-year-old girl’s friend, engaged in sexual relations with her through the use of violence.

On August 22, 2020, a decision was made to combine the criminal cases initiated regarding the mentioned incidents and to continue the preliminary investigation in one proceeding. Based on the collected sufficient evidence, charges have been brought against the 19-year-old girl under part 1 of Article 34-104 of the RA Criminal Code, and against her 23-year-old friend under part 1 of Article 38-34-104 of the RA Criminal Code. The measure of restraint for both has been chosen as detention. For the 23-year-old man, a signature not to leave has been chosen as a restrictive measure.

Necessary investigative actions have been carried out, including an examination of the crime scene, and a number of expert examinations have been appointed. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
