Investigative Committee President at Explosion Site: Residents of Rainisi 1 Building Being Questioned
An explosion occurred in an apartment building located in the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan.
Under the leadership of the President of the RA Investigative Committee, investigative actions are being conducted at the scene, according to the Investigative Committee.
On August 26, at 07:18, the National Crisis Management Center received a call regarding the explosion in the apartment building at 1 Rainisi Street in Yerevan's Kanaker-Zeytun district.
The President of the RA Investigative Committee, Haik Grigoryan, has gone to the scene. By his instruction, an investigative group has been formed consisting of officials from the Heavy Crimes Investigation Department of the Yerevan Investigative Division and the Forensic Division of the Special Assignments, Organizational-Analytical and Forensic Headquarters.
Haik Grigoryan is overseeing the work being conducted by the investigative group.
Two citizens with various injuries were removed from the rubble and transported to Yerevan's number 1 university hospital. The body of Arthur Georgi Ghazaryan, a resident of the third floor of the same building born in 1962, was also retrieved.
A criminal case has been initiated in the Heavy Crimes Investigation Department of the Yerevan Investigative Division concerning the incident under Article 279 of the RA Criminal Code (release or sale of products not meeting safety requirements, or the performance of works or provision of services).
As part of the criminal case, residents of the aforementioned building are currently being questioned, and parallel investigative actions are being conducted at Yerevan's number 1 university hospital.
Extensive investigative and procedural actions are underway to clarify all circumstances of the incident.
