Environmental Damage Valued at 25 Million 692 Thousand AMD Identified
The Inspectorate for the Protection of Nature and Minerals of Armenia has submitted a report regarding the activities conducted from August 10 to 14, 2020. During inspections, tours, and investigations of administrative proceedings carried out by the Inspectorate, 27 cases were registered, with 26 cases calculating environmental damage amounting to 25,692,500 AMD, and one case resulting in an administrative fine of 50,000 AMD.
Previously recorded incidents resulted in environmental damage assessed at 20,147,387 AMD, with an administrative penalty of 1,700,000 AMD imposed in one case.
In the field of plant world conservation, 25 cases were recorded, with damage to the environment calculated at 25,682,500 AMD. In four previously recorded cases, damage was evaluated at 496,500 AMD, leading to an administrative fine of 300,000 AMD.
In terms of wildlife conservation, one case recorded environmental damage valued at 10,000 AMD.
In the sectors of atmospheric air and water protection, waste disposal, and land use and conservation, five inspections conducted previously resulted in damage to the environment assessed at 19,650,887 AMD, and an administrative penalty of 1,250,000 AMD was issued.
For failing to submit the environmental tax and consolidated quarterly tax calculations within the prescribed timeframe, one violation resulted in an administrative fine of 50,000 AMD. Another previously recorded case incurred an administrative penalty of 150,000 AMD.
Eight cases (totaling 1,235,000 AMD in administrative penalties) have been referred to the Ministry of Justice.
