Armenian Soldier Clearly Reading Imposed Text: David Tonoyan Discusses with Andrzej Kasprzyk

The spokesperson of the Armenian Ministry of Defense, Shushan Stepanyan, wrote on her Facebook page that on August 26, Minister of Defense David Tonoyan had a phone conversation with Andrzej Kasprzyk, the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office. During the conversation, D. Tonoyan drew the ambassador's attention to the video message involving Armenian Army officer Gurgin Alaverdyan, which has been circulating in the Azerbaijani media, as well as to a previously published video, emphasizing that these recordings represent a gross violation of internationally recognized rights, including international humanitarian law.

The Geneva Conventions guarantee the protection of the rights of prisoners of war, as well as the right to respect for their honor and dignity, which should exclude any form of humiliating treatment, regardless of the circumstances or the terrain under the control of the opposing side.

It is noted that serviceman Gurgin Alaverdyan is clearly reading a text imposed on him, crafted in a flawed manner.

Recall that on August 22, around 19:30, officer Gurgin Alaverdyan got lost and confused due to severe adverse weather conditions while checking a combat post. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense has also stated that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces captured Armenian Armed Forces Senior Lieutenant Gurgin Alaverdyan.

According to reports, on August 23, around 05:45, an Armenian Armed Forces diversion-reconnaissance group attempted to provoke in the direction of the Geraqnboy region, but after suffering losses, retreated. The Armenian Ministry of Defense has denied the Azerbaijani side's latest misinformation.
