Yerevan State University Board of Trustees Denies Media Access to Meeting
Journalists were barred from covering the meeting of the Board of Trustees of Yerevan State University, which commenced today at 11:00 AM. According to the university's press secretary, Gevorg Emin-Teryan, former chair and current board member Gevorg Muradyan instructed security staff not to allow journalists entry, citing the government's regulation that prohibits more than 40 individuals from gathering in one location.
It is worth noting that the Board of Trustees is composed of 32 members. Additionally, Gevorg Emin-Teryan recently posted on Facebook, revealing that Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport Zhanna Andreasian and the head of the office of Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, Varag Siserian, opposed allowing journalists inside.
Later, it was proposed that only one media outlet be granted access to cover the meeting; however, the media representatives rejected this offer, resulting in the meeting being left unreported. This marks the inaugural meeting of the Board of Trustees in its new composition.
