Armenian Nuclear Power Plant Connects to Armenia's Unified Energy System

The Number 2 energy block of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, equipped with Turbine Generators N3 and N4, has successfully rejoined Armenia's Unified Energy System following scheduled preventive maintenance (PPMV-2020).

During the PPMV, works have been completed in both the reactor and turbine workshops, as well as in the centralized refurbishment workshop. Instrumental studies of the management systems' towing devices and reactor protection have been performed alongside checks on corrosion monitoring equipment.

These efforts have significantly improved the operational safety and reliability of the energy block. The preventive maintenance at the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant was completed 12 days ahead of schedule, a remarkable achievement made possible through special organization of the processes, the commitment of the plant's personnel towards achieving the final result, and the healthy professional relationships established with the organizations involved, shaped during effective collaborative work.

The main contractor for the planned preventive works and equipment modernization at the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant is the specialized company "Rusatom Service," which is part of the electric power division of the Rosatom State Corporation.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant has combined planned preventive maintenance with the implementation of its operational lifespan extension program, as the majority of the measures are technologically feasible only when the energy block is offline. Following the completion of the PPMV, work on the lifespan extension program for Energy Block No. 2 will continue.
