Minibus Rolls Off Cliff in Georgia, 17 Dead

A minibus carrying passengers rolled off a cliff near the village of Shatili in Georgia's mountainous Dusheti municipality, dropping from a height of about 80 meters. According to preliminary reports, the minibus was transporting tourists from Tbilisi.

As reported by aliq.ge, citing information from the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs, 17 passengers have lost their lives in the accident, while three survivors have managed to escape. The three individuals have been transferred to hospitals in the capital, where their condition is assessed as critical.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing at the site, and efforts are being made to identify the deceased. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the incident.

Shatili village is located in northeastern Georgia, in the historical region of Khevsureti. The access road to this area is regarded as one of the most dangerous in the country, becoming impassable during winter months due to heavy precipitation. Shatili is famous for its medieval stone towers and attracts hundreds of tourists to the fortress city during the summer.
