No Trade in the Largest Car Market: Volumes Have Decreased
During January to June of this year, the trade volumes of cars in Armenia totaled 42 billion 489 million 100 dram. According to the Armenian Statistical Committee, this represents a 10.2 percent decrease compared to the same period last year. As they say, there is no trade in the largest car market in Armenia.
The reason is not only the coronavirus but also the fact that potential car buyers from Kazakhstan have not stepped foot into the car market since the beginning of this year.
The "Zhoghovurd" newspaper learned from the Armenian Statistical Committee that retail trade turnover has also decreased by 14.2 percent during the same January to June period. Meanwhile, wholesale trade turnover has dropped by 8 percent in the first six months of this year.
However, according to experts, these figures were expected, as the situation in Armenia has been tense in recent months; the state of emergency declared due to the coronavirus was bound to affect trade and business.
